About Us
Our Story:
Bridging the Employment Gap for Autistic Professionals.
Approximately 85% of people currently identified as living on the autism spectrum are underemployed or unemployed. This stark reality underscores the critical need for targeted employment support.
Launched in May 2014, Spectrum Advantage is a pioneering initiative, the first of its kind in Canada. Created by Autism Calgary and supported generously by the Government of Canada and the Sinneave Family Foundation, our program specifically targets the employment needs of individuals with autism aged 18 to 30. Through our comprehensive approach, we not only connect candidates to careers but also provide the tools and support necessary for sustained employment.
Our Vision:
- Empowerment Through Employment: To create a world where individuals on the autism spectrum are fully integrated into the workforce, recognized for their unique talents and contributions.
- Inclusive Work Cultures: To foster inclusive work environments that value diversity and innovation, benefiting businesses and communities alike.
- Sustainable Careers: To ensure that every individual on the autism spectrum has access to sustainable career opportunities that promote long-term personal and professional growth.
Our Mission:
- Connect Talent with Opportunity: To bridge the gap between skilled autistic professionals and forward-thinking employers looking for fresh perspectives.
- Comprehensive Support: To provide holistic support and training to both candidates and employers, ensuring successful and enduring employment relationships.
- Advocate for Inclusion: To champion the cause of workplace inclusivity, advocating for necessary accommodations and equitable treatment of all employees.
